Glessnor Cloyd Bodkin, 62, of rural Lafayette, died at 4:45 AM Monday [Jan. 1, 1968] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 30, following a year of failing health. He was born at Wingate and attended Lafayette schools. In 1926, he married Bertha Fallon, who died in 1926. In 1936, he married Sylvia Sexton, who survives.
Mr. Bodkin operated Bodkin Motor Service for 35 years, retiring in 1952 due to ill-health. He was a member of EUB Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and American Riflemen's Association. He was an Eagle scout and worked in this area as Boy Scout field commissioner and as scout master. He served with the 8th service command during World War II as a civilian.
Surviving with the widow are one son, Glessnor C. Bodkin, Jr. in the U.S. Armed Forces at Aberdeen, MD; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia E. Sewell of Indianapolis; his mother, Mrs. Clyde Bodkin of Lafayette; one brother, Marion F. Bodkin of Lafayette; and six grandchildren.
