Walter F. Howard Sr., 80, of Baldwin Road died Friday at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Volney, Mr. Howard was a life resident of the Fulton-Volney area. He retired in 1982 as a custodian after 13 years with the Fulton Consolidated School System and previously was employed 25 years with Nestle Co. Mr. Howard was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Volney, its Men's Club and Hiram Lodge 144, F&AM. He was a 58-year member of the Mount Pleasant Grange. Mr. Howard was an Army veteran of WWII. Surviving are his wife, the former Velma R. Coles; two sons, Walter F. Jr. and Wendell G., both of Fulton; a brother, Lyle of Fulton; a sister, Carmen Lord of Haines City, Fla. Services Sunday in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Volney.
