Raymond Douglas, 86, of Shreveport passed in his sleep in the early morning Monday, June 17, 2013.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA. Celebration of Life services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, also at Centuries, with interment immediately following in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be chaplain Dana Casey.

Mr. Douglas was born November 6, 1926 in Glendale, Arizona. His family relocated to Houma, Louisiana when he was a child and he is a graduate of Terrebonne High School. He served in Germany with the U.S. Army Air Force as a parachute rigger. Mr. Douglas is the recipient of a Victory Medal and an Occupational Medal and he made Shreveport home after receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He worked for Sunshine Cleaners and drove for the Shreveport Trolley Company, but spent most of his career with the United States Postal Service. In retirement, he enjoyed collecting various farming-related antiques and documenting the family genealogy. In declining health for several years, he was cared for by his son Lee, his wife Lori and daughter Crystal.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Mildred Irene (née Culver) Douglas; his parents, Ade Jack and Emma Lee (née McKenzie) Douglas, and his sister Julia Lee Douglas. He is survived by his four sons Raymond Lee Douglas, his wife Lori and their daughter Crystal; John Fabian Douglas and his son John David; Brian Keith Douglas and his wife Barbara and their children Jennifer, Laura and Brian; Nathan Scott Douglas and his wife Rene and their children Jason, Jeremy and Nathan. Also grieving are loving brothers Cecil Douglas, and wife Margaret; Eugene Douglas, and wife Marian; three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
