Amelia Cerniglia
Amelia Cerniglia, 91, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, March 14, 1999 at home. Mrs. Cerniglia was a homemaker. She was a parishioner of Our. Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Born in Poughkeepsie on Feb. 6, 1908, she was a daughter of Luigi and Annamaria Germani Santopadre. She attended local schools. She married Salvatore Cerniglia on Sept. 9, 1934 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Cerniglia died On Sept. 14, 1981. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joan Cerniglia, Mystic, CT; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Nicholas Siciliano, Poughkeepsie; two grandsons, Richard Cerniglia II, Westerly, RI, and Jason Cerniglia, Orlando, FL; several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dutchess County, 72 S. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie NY 12601. Arrangements by the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc, 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie.
