Fred Roger Toney
OLD TOWN - Fred Roger Toney of Old Town died Sunday at the Veterans Affairs Nursing Home in Lake City. He was 88. Mr. Toney was born in Spartanburg, S.C., and moved from Spartanburg to Old Town over 50 years ago.

He was a retired store owner and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Toney was a Shriner and a member of both the Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 4 and the Church of Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his caregiver, Melba Delaney of Old Town; five sons, Donald Toney, Robert Toney, William Toney and David Toney, all of Charlotte, N.C., and Bob Simral of Raleigh [adopted by Robert William Simril and Mildred Elizabeth Gardner]; two daughters, Jaenelle Travis of Charlotte and Patricia Sykes of Jupiter; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
