Shirley Mae Van Erem, 70, Jamestown, N.D., died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown, N.D.
Shirley Wiese was born December 22, 1931 in Jamestown, N.D., the daughter of Lynn and Christine (Liebig) Wiese. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown,N.D., graduating from Jamestown High School in 1949. She worked for Bridgeman-Russell Creamery from 1949 to 1952.
Shirley married Victor Van Erem on May 23, 1953 in Jamestown, N.D. They made their home on a farm north of Spiritwood, N.D.
She taught Religious Education for three years at St. John's Academy. She was the Clerk for the Spiritwood School Board from 1954 to 1996. Shirley was a member of the Basilica of St. James, Tabernacle Society and the Spiritwood Homemakers Club.
Shirley devoted many years to caregiving of family members.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 49 years, Victor Van Erem, of Jamestown, N.D.; three children, Dale (Becky) Van Erem, of Spiritwood, N.D.; Vicki (Brion) Knudsen, of Marion, N.D.; Jerry (Darla) Van Erem, of Jamestown, N.D.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Laurenda Reich, of Rochester, MN; and Lois Knight, of Nubieber, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Kathy.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. - Saturday, November 23, 2002 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, N.D., with Father Steven Reiske and Father Bernard Pfau officiating.
Vigil Service: 5:30 P.M. - Friday, November 22, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, N.D.
Visitation: Friday, November 22, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens - Jamestown, N.D.
