Jim Major, of Paris, Mo., died at his home early this morning after a long illness.
Mr. Major, who was 82, had lived most of his life near and in Paris. He was the son of James Reed Major and Sarah (Wolfold) Major, both of Wentsville. For several years, he was the superintendent of the County Farm, and he has also been a prominent farmer and stock man of Monroe County. He served for four years as deputy sheriff of Monroe County before becoming superintendent of the County Farm.
Surviving him are three brothers; Elliott W. Major, a former governor of Missouri, and now of St Louis; E. T Major, of Lenexa Kan., and Sam Major, a prominent stock man who lives at Paris; and seven children--Mrs. Joe Wills, Paris; Mrs Lizzie Dry, Paris; Mrs Sadie Dooley, Stoutsville; Dunkin Major, Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. Laura Warneke, Chicago; Tom Major, Ft. Worth, Tex.; and another daughter, Anna Mae, of Oklahoma.
