Edward T. Major
Edward Taylor Major, aged 79, secretary of the Missouri State Fair from 1912 to 1916, died Wednesday afternoon at his home east of Lexena, Kas. He had suffered a stroke nine months ago.
Mr. Major operated the E. T. Major training barn near Lenexa for the last 11 years. He was expert at training saddle horses and rode a gaited horse in the American Royal horse show as late as 1946.
He was born near St Charles, Mo., and in 1916 moved to Greater Kansas City. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Roberta Major, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Robert C. Turner, Mission, Mrs. Kelsey Matthews, Kansas City; Mrs. Richard Brown, Independence and Mrs. Harold I. Snowden, Fontana, Calif., and a son, True C. Major, of the home.
The body was at the New-City until 10:00 o'clock Thursday night.
Mr. Major was a brother of Elliott W. Major, governor of Missouri from 1912 to 1916.
