Herbert E. Hollenback Sr., 79, Anderson, died Jan. 2, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Lapel, the son of Paul Hollenback and Murial Huffman Hollenback, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He was a member of Elm Grove Christian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 174, Civil Defense and Auxiliary Police.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and horse racing. He was self-employed as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 40 years and had also worked for Ron Talbert Tour Buses. He had been a flagman at Sun Valley Speedway.
Survivors includes his wife; son; three daughters; two brothers; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Hollenback; parents, Paul and Murial Hollenback; two brothers, Robert Hollenback and Ted Hollenback; and a sister, Carolyn Parkhurst.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Guilkey Funeral Home, 504 W. Ninth St., Anderson, with Pastor Bill Hilligoss and George Clark officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 266.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
