Mary, or Marya, was born in Lezachow, Sieniawa Parish, Rzeszow, Poland (now in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship). She was the daughter of Jan/Iwan Papa and his wife Anna Czercowy. She married first to Joseph Buchcar, 29 Jan. 1911 in New York, NY. She married second to Stanley Baran, apparently about 1912/13. They moved to Chicago by 1917.
