Martha Jane Wilson was born on Mar. 30, 1906 in Council, Buchanan Co., Virginia. She was the daughter of Otis Lee "Leotis" Wilson (1884-1922) and Mary Alice Combs (1855-1958), the second of their four known children.

Martha's father, Leotis, was born in Combs Ridge, Buchanan Co., VA. He was the son of James Robert "Jim" Wilson (1848-1910) and Margaret Ball (1857-1951). Both parents were born in Russell Co., Virginia and both died in Buchanan Co., VA.

Martha's mother, Mary, was also born in Buchanan Co., VA. She was the daughter of Lafayette Smith Combs (1858-1910) and Emily "Fannie" Lester (1867- ?). Both were born in Virginia, probably Buchanan County.

On the day before Christmas in 1921, in Parksville, Boyle Co., KY, Martha married Charles Edward "Charlie" Stephens (1903-1993). He was the son of William Whitmill Stephens (1869-1956) and Sarah Jane Wilson (1873-1937).

Martha and Charlie were married for 66 years and had seven known children. They are listed in Charlie's memorial.

Martha died on Sept. 15, 1988 in Wilmington, Clinton Co., Ohio at the age of 82. She is buried in the Crosson Cemetery located in Harlan Township, Warren Co., OH.

Martha's husband, Charlie, died on June 28, 1993 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH at the age of 89. He too, is buried in the Crosson Cemetery, next to his beloved wife, Martha.
