Born in Unionville, Iowa, April 9, 1929 to the late Carl and Mabel Hunt Whisler. Married July 28, 1995 in Chesterton, IN to Lee S. Petty who survives.
Also survived by sons, Thomas Randall Doler of Westville, IN and Kevin C. (Suzanne) Doler of Chesterton and step-sons, Roy (Ann) Petty of VA., Mark (Veronica) Petty of Fort Worth, TX. and Keith Petty of Chesterton, IN; daughters, Candace (Mark) Doler-Moser of Swanton, OH and Juliet Belle (Robert) Rujevcan of Overland Park, Kansas; step-daughter, Michelle (Patrick) Donegan of London, England; five brothers; three sisters; eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Petty was an area resident since 1947. Co-Founder of Doler Plumbing & Heating, founded in 1953. Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Barbara was one of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Jackson Doler "Jack" on September 4, 1992. Barbara married Jack on November 29, 1947 and together they founded Doler Plumbing & Heating in 1953.
Barbara was an active church member at St. Patrick, Past President of Chesterton Junior Women's Club, member of Delta Theta Tau, an active Participant in March of Dimes and the Liberty P.T.A. Barbara will be greatly missed for spreading the joy of flowers around her relatives, friends and neighbors.
Barbara and her husband Lee planted flowers along the bike trail. The family suggests memorials to the family for a fund to set a permanent flower bed in the Park System in Memory of Barbara.
Funeral services Thursday, October 28, 1999, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN, with Rev. Father Lawrence Heeg and Rev. Al Marquez officiating. Cremation to follow services, Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN. Visitation Wednesday, October 27th, from 3 to 8 p.m. Wake service 7:30 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.
