Gary A. Fishback, 72 of rural Hannibal, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois. He was born December 16, 1940 in Lewis County, Missouri the son of Albert and Mary Jo Gruber Fishback. Gary was a 1954 graduate of Monroe City High School, Monroe City, Missouri. He was a member of the Monroe City First Baptist Church. He was a Hannibal businessman since 1990, he founded Consolidated Machine and Welding and was Co-owner with Andy and Mike Fishback after the 1993 flood. He joined the Missouri Army National Gaurd in December of 1959. In 1973 Gary was commander of the Hannibal Unit and was Promoted to Captain during the April flood, and got the new Armory in Huckleberry Park under construction. He was then transferred to Command and Control in the Jefferson City Unit and promoted to Major, he rertired from the National Gaurd in 1984. He was a member of the Hannibal American Legion and past member of the Hannibal Rotary. He was married to Peggy O'Neal in 1960 with that marriage came three Sons. He then was married to Joann Aldrich in 1981. Survivors include three sons: Jeff Fishback, Hannibal, Missouri; Mike Fishback, Bernhardt, Missouri; and Andy Fishback and wife Andrea, Hannibal, Missouri. Three Sisters: Judy Potterfield and husband Ren, Monroe City, Missouri; Joyce Ann Franklin and husband Dick, Independence, Missouri; and Peggy Shaver and husband Neal, Dunnellon, Florida. Nine Grandchildren: Jermery Fishback, Alexis Fishback, Erin Fishback, Ryan Fishback, Nathan Fishback and Emily Fishback. Three step grandchildren: Caleb Pashia and wife Aimee, Colin Pashia and Taylor Pashia. Also survived by two Step Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Monroe City First Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate, burial from the Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 till 8:00 pm Monday evening at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Active Pallbearers will be Ryan Fishback, Nathan Fishback, The Honorable Robert M. Clayton, Jim Bishop, Wayne Tipton and Tom Winking. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Glascock, Russ Alexander, Robert Vanwinkle, Shelly Vanwinkle, Gerald Foreman, J.D. Underhill, Jim Underhill, Larry Bronestine and The Honorable Mary Rhodes Russell. Memorials have been suggested to the Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch.
