He graduated from Independence High School, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology, and UNCC with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology and a Master of Engineering. He was a storm water quality engineer with the Charlotte Storm Water Department for five years.
He was the author of several papers which he presented to professional organizations. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying biking, hunting, fishing, and boating, particularly on the Outer Banks. He also enjoyed playing hockey and playing his drums.
He is survived by his parents, Sandy and Gerry Hieronymus of Mint Hill, brothers Kevin Hieronymus of Charlotte, and Stephen Hieronymus (Ashley) and niece Natalie of Gastonia, his grandmother, Mira Hieronymus of Stamping Ground, KY, and dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins of whom he was very fond.
The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the CPCC Foundation - Jeff Hieronymus Civil Engineering Technology Fund, P.O. Box 35009, Charlotte, NC 28235-5009 or to the Walter Ball Music Endowment Fund, Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Rd., Charlotte, NC 28203. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00AM at Myers Park United Methodist Church.
