Ellen Blanche Nelson was one of three murder victims who died on October 13, 1935. This was a great tragedy in Davis County and made front page news on October 14, 1935.

Mrs. Nelson, was the widow of Lawrence Nelson, she was born in Bountiful, November 21, 1885, the daughter of Gilbert S. and Ellen Moss Hatch. Her husband died 17 years ago. Mrs. Nelson was prominent in civic and religious affairs of Woods Cross and Bountiful, for many years.

Surviving her are three children, Mrs. Geneve Parker of Los Angeles; Blache Ellen, 23, and Lawrence Nelson, 17, both of Woods Cross; three grandchildren; her father and mother, two brothers, Lawrence and Reed Hatch of Woods Cross and six sisters, Clara H. Egan, Edith H. Haacke, and Alice Haacke, of Woods Cross; Rilla H. Muir and Lucile Barker of Salt Lake, and Mary H. Sessions of Bountiful.

Obsequies Conducted Thursday for Mrs. Blanch Nelson

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanch Nelson were conducted Thursday at 1 p. m. in the South Bountiful ward chapel; Counselor Claude Mills officiating.

The following program requested by the family, was given; Opening prayer by Lawrence Moss, benediction by Sheriff Joseph Holbrook and the grave was dedicated by Charles M. Egan. Speakers were: Samuel C. Howard, Heber J. Sessions and M. W. Mackey who represented the Cudahy Packing Co. employer of Mrs. Nelson at the time of her death; Joseph Wood and Bishop Wood and Bishop E. T. Hatch.

Dorothy Sessions, a niece of the slain woman, accompanied by Mrs. Coy Hayward, read a tribute to her aunt.

Musical numbers were played by the Lindsay sisters of Salt Lake who played "Mother Machree" and "Farewell to Thee"; a duet by Bishop Elijah Gregory and his Daughter; a and b numbers by Joseph H. Wood, entitled "In the Garden of Tomorrow" and "Goin' Home" and a male quartet sang "Sister Thou Art Mild and Lovely."
