Rev. C. H. Garrett was a Baptist preacher and a carpenter. He married Annie Capps in 1891 and they had 4 daughters and 1 son. Annie died in 1900. In 1901 he married Katie Chapman. They had a son and daughter. Claude lived the last 40 years of his life in Mason. He also served as County Judge of Mason County between 1918 and 1920. The inscription on his gravestone reads "He Preached Jesus"
