Chas. Porter Dead.

A Well Known Old Soldier Died This Morning.

Charles Porter, a veteran of the civil war, died this morning at the home of his brother Silas Porter who lives south east of the city. He had been in fairly good health until last Sunday and since then his death has been expected. It is thought that cancer of the stomach was the cause of his death.

The deceased was sixty years od age and has made his home in this city for almost forty years. He followed the occupation of farming and gardening each summer and in the winter was a teamster.

He leaves a brother Silas Porter, a son Will Porter and a daughter. The remains were brought to their home on East Eleventh street today from where the funeral services will be conducted under the direction of the G.A.R. of which the deceased was a member.

The funeral services will be held Sunday at Bethany church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
