Mrs. A.R. Arrasmith
Jennie Rosina Eddy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Eddy, was born September 28, 1848, in North Dover, Cuyhoga county, O., and died at her home in Belleville on July 26, 1936, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 29 days. She had been confined to her bed for more than a year and a half as a result of a fractured hip, but during all of that time was a constant example of hope and trust.
With her parents she moved to Springfield, Linn county, Ia., in 1856. When 11 years old she was converted and joined the Methodist church, in which she was ever a faithful and active worker. She filled different offices from primary work to superintendent in the Sunday school, and also held various offices in the Republic County Sunday School association. She was active in missionary work, and was honored by being made a life member of the Women's Foreign Missionary society and the General Board of Foreigh Missions. She was an officer of the W.C.T.U. and a member of the Womens Relief corps, her husband having belonged to Co. A. 13 regiment, Iowa Volunteer infantry in the Union army. In her younger days she finished college at Mr. Vernon, Ia., and prepared to teach school.
She was united in holy matrimony to Abner Reed Arrasmith at Mt. Vernon on November 27, 1867, and on their honeymoon came to Olathe, where they made their home for 15 years. Moving to Rose Creek township, Republic county, they resided there until 1892, then moved to Belleville. To this union were born two daughters, Miss Etta Leona and Miss Euna May, both of the home.
Mr. Arrasmith preceded her in death more than 12 years ago, but she is survived by her two daughters, besides three sisters, Mrs. Emma Ephraimson and Mrs. Serrelda Wells, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Annie M. Hopper of Spray, Ore., and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at the Methodist church in Belleville, by the Rev. John Canfield. Interment was in the Belleville cemetery.
