Euna Arrasmith
Euna May Arrasmith, daughter of Abner Reed Arrasmith and Jenny Eddy Arrasmith was born February 15, 1880, at Olathe, Kan., and passed away at the home of Mrs. Edith Kelly, Belleville, Kan., on April 7, 1957, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 23 days.
When a small girl she came to Belleville with her parents. She graduated from Belleville high school in 1899. She taught two years at the Ida School district 68, and two years at the McCune school. She also taught in Belleville high school in the years beginning 1905 and 1906. She served as County Superintendent of schools in Republic county from 1913 until 1917. She was Assistant State Superintendent of Public Schools under Miss Lizzie Wooster for two years. She was an Alumni of Kansas Wesleyan University, also a member of the D.A.R.
Miss Arrasmith gave up her public work to care for her father, mother and invalid sister. After their death she lived alone, Her church serving as her family. She was very active in the Sunday School and church work for many years until no longer able to work in public life.
Euna wa quiet and unassuming; but very efficient and effective in her work. Her quick understanding, ready wit and Christian kindness made her the cherished friend of may teachers, pupils and other friends. In her latter years, living alone, every expression of appreciation, whether a letter, work or deed, was deeply cherished.
The past few months she was cared for in the home of Mrs. Edith Kelly who gave her the same kindly care that Euna had given to others. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her sister, Etta.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Gray at First Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 9. Interment was in the Belleville Cemetery.
