Norman Franklin Spindler was born on December 11, 1907 in Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio. He was the first of eight children born to August Franklin and Katherine "Katie" (Miller) Spindler.

He grew up with his siblings in Fearing Township on the Spindler Family Farm. When old enough he began helping on the farm.

He marrie Margaret Louella Trautner, daughter of Edward and Edith (Miller) Trautner, on February 20, 1937 in Pleasants County, West Virginia.

Norman and Margaret has no children.

He died in a farming accident on September 2, 1940 in Washington County, Ohio. He was 32 years old. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, parents, five sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was buried at St. Jacob's Cemetery in Fearing Township. After his death, Margaret married his cousin Ralph Charles Spindler.
