John William Dewhurst, Jr., 71, of East Hartford, passed away on Friday, (November 30, 2001) at a local health care center.

Born in Paoli, IN, a son of the late John W. and Nora Ethel (Pearson) Dewhurst, he had resided in East Hartford for the past 43 years.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford employed him for 30 years.

Mr. Dewhurst is survived by a son, Robert A. Dewhurst of East Hartford; a brother, George Dewhurst of Saugus, MA; six sisters, Mary, Esther, Ethel, Elsie, Lucy, and Stella, all in Indiana; his former wife, Barbara L. Mische of East Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a son, John W. Dewhurst, Ill; a daughter, Wendy Lee Reopel; and a brother, Robert Dewhurst.

Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 4, 11 a.m., at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be at Veterans Memorial Field, Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. There is no calling hours.
