Daniel Aaron Nash, Jr. 86, of Kiowa, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. Born Dec, 16, 1926 in Kiowa, he was the son of Daniel Aaron, Sr. and Bessie Lee O'Kelly Nash. At the age of 9, his father died and the family moved to Claremore where he attended school. Later he entered the United States Navy and served during World War II. After he received his discharge he began driving a cement truck in Tulsa. He later worked as a long haul truck driver for Anderson Trucking Service in St. Cloud, Minn. He drove the entire United States, including Alaska, in the more than 40 years he was behind the wheel. He retired in July 1992. He married Lorene L. Pollock on Dec, 8, 2008, in Hartshorne, after the death of his first wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Emerson. He enjoyed playing dominos, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Haileyville Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lorene L. Nash, of the home; children, Teresa Tolbers and husband, Dick, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Kenneth Nash and wife, Diane, of Kiowa, Colo., and Robyn Hanks, of McAlester; grandchildren, Matthew Tolbers, Travis Tolbers, Dustin Nash and wife, Rose, Christa Hendrix and husband, Aaron, Caitlin Hanks, Valerie Rogers, Jonathan Hanks and wife, Tiffany; seven grandchildren; and, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Harold Nash, James Butler Nash and David Edward Nash; and sisters, Altha Mae Layns and Virginia Ruth Cates. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by the Rev. Buddy Little. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Blakeslee, Doyle Mitchell, Delbert Nelson, Dwayne Brown, Jerry Helver and Charlie Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Rod and Gun Club. Funeral services are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
