Peder was married the first time on July 19, 1881 to Marthe Marie Jorgensdatter Bjerga (Berta Marie) from Rennesoy, Norway. Their son, Peder Marselius, was born December 17, 1882. In an ironic turn of events, Peder Marselius was baptized on the day of his mother's funeral, December 27, 1882. Young Peder died in Vistvik on May 5, 1884, at the home of his grandparents, Jacob and Anne Bergithe, where he and his father had been staying.
