Richard E. Gebhart, 85, of New Oxford, entered into God's eternal care Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center. He was husband of Mary P. "Mim" (Groft) Gebhart, his wife of 64 years. Born November 14, 1927, in Hanover, he was the son of the late William J. and Teresa C. (Klunk) Gebhart. Dick was retired from Borg Warner in York, a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove and the Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children: Laura Rhodes and her companion John Millar of New Oxford, Richard A. Gebhart of York and Debora Cosgrove of New Oxford; five grandchildren: Ryan Marshall and wife Nikki, Travis Rhodes, Jena Selfe and husband Joshua, Nichole Batiz and husband Bert, and Sadie Cosgrove and partner Jeremy Spiring; six great-grandchildren: Ayden and Adley Batiz, Lolita Selfe, Isabella and Brooklyn Marshall, and Calvin Spiring; a sister, Cosmas Worley and a brother, William Gebhart both of Hanover. He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Gerald, Paul, Frederick, Regis, Carl, and Joseph Gebhart, Rita Rinehart, Natalie Greenholt, and Margaret Hays. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
