A SUDDEN AND VIOLENT DEATH.
Joseph Peter Rock of Schuyler Falls Thrown from a Carriage and Killed. The Telegram of Thursday says:Aoout 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon Charles Rock of Schuyler Falls drove to the office of Dr. Lyon and asked the doctor to attend to his
father whom he said had been injured by being thrown from his carriage on the lake shore road. Dr. Lyon made a hasty examination and pronounced the man dead and ordered the remains taken to the Albion House and the coroner notified.
The following account of the accident was given by the victim's son,who is a stone mason by trade: They had just left the grounds of the Catholic Summer School where the
young- man had been looking for work at his trade and were coming to this village. As they were crossing a bridge between the Armstrong and Wing farms the horse shyed pulling
the carriage went into the ditch where it overturned and the young man was thrown out, his father falling over him. Upon arising he spoke to his father who gasped but did not answer. Thinking he was in a faint, he started after the horse, who had succeeded in freeing himself from the wagon, and started down the road. A party coming up the road turned the horse back and he was again hitched to the
carriage and the old man being lifted in they started for town. IN ear the garrison the horse again left the road,
this time breaking one of the rear wheels of the carriage and letting the son to the ground again. A livery rig was then secured and they went to Dr. Lyon's office, as told above. Upon a closer examination by Drs. Lyon and Madden it was found that the neck was broken, and that death had ensued before he was lifted from the ground. Deceased was 70 years of age and is survived bv a wife and 11 children. He was a veteran of the late war and a member of Bentley
