Marjorie Ruth Carwile, 73, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., with Chaplain James Teel officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Carwile was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Long Beach, CA. She moved to Abilene in 1945 and married Roy James Carwile Dec. 18, 1946 in Abilene. Mrs. Carwile had worked as the Controller for Sojourner Drilling Co. since 1973. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Carwile of Abilene; two sons, Michael Carwile of Fredericksburg and Randall Carwile of Weatherford; four sisters, Darine Johnston of Bakersfield, CA, Raynelle Martin and Jeanie Oscarson, both of Manitou Springs, CO, and Lois Gysin of Woodland Park, CO; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 542 Hickory.
