Retired Farmer Dies at Arcola
ARCOLA, Ill. — John L. Houchin, 84, a retired farmer of Arcola, died at the Arcola Nursing home today at 6:30 a.m.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Shrader funeral home, with Rev. H. L. Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Arcola cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.
Mr. Houchin was born March 15, 1873, in Lawrenceburg, Ky., a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Houchin. He came to the Arcola community in a covered wagon when a boy, and had farmed in this community ever since. He married Mary Reed on Jan. 29, 1898. She died Nov. 29, 1947.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Murphy of Arcola; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
