The daughter of Warren Fillmore and Mary Elizabeth Wellborn Dent, Minna Wellborn Dent was born on December 30, 1882 in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama. She was the granddaughter of Stouten Warren and Mary Smoot Dent of Charles County, Maryland, and of Maximilian Bethune and Emma Julia "Minna" Dent Wellborn of Eufaula, Alabama. Her Great Great Grandfather was John Herbert Dent, who was a Commodore of the U.S.S. Constitution "Old Ironsides." She was also descended from the Reverend Pierre Robert, the first Calvinistic minister in South Carolina, and from the Burnett family of Scotland, who were descended from all of the royal lines in Europe.

Minna and Theodore were married on November 22, 1910 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Minna was active in the church and in the community. She served as the president of the Sidney Lanier High School P.T.O., and was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. She and Theodore had two daughters: Mary Elizabeth Bethea and Sarah Baldwin Bethea.

Minna passed away on February 23, 1951, at the home of her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bethea Vickers, in Florence, Alabama, and is buried at the Oakwood Annex in Montgomery, Alabama.
