Mrs. Galbreath, of Panora, a worthy lady, had a great sorrow to come upon her household on Monday. Her son, a boy of twelve years, went with some other boys, without his mother's knowledge, to the river to bathe. In the water he got beyond his depth and drowned. The first warning the mother had of her loss was brought to her by his comrades returning with her son's clothes.

A sad accident occurred last Monday afternoon about three o'clock, resulting in death of little Leroy Galbreath, aged 12 years. He in company with two other boys about the same age, were in swimming just above Lenon & Son's mill, at what is known as the "second bend," when he got into water over his head, and being unable to swim, immediately sank to the bottom. He arose to the top and cried for help, but sank again before his youthful companions could get to him. These two little boys then dove after the body of their drowning playmate, and succeeded in getting him to within a short distance from the shore, when he struggled loose from them and again drifted out into the deep water. The little fellows then came to town and gave the alarm. A crowd was soon at the place of the accident, and after diving several times, the lifeless form was found and brought to the shore. This is a sad blow to the widow-mother, and she has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. Leroy was an intelligent, well-behaved little fellow, loved and respected by all who knew him. He was interred yesterday forenoon in the cemetery some twelve miles north of Panora, in which his father, who died some years ago is buried. A large concourse of people followed the remains to its last resting place.
