Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for Taft resident, Roy Lee Barker, 74. Pastor Jim Harmer of the West Side Believers Fellowship will officiate at the services. Mr. Barker was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 12, 1927 and passed away at his home on May 26, 2002. he had lived in this area since 1938. Mr. Barker proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He had been employed as a garage mechanic for over 42 years and retired from Santa Fe Energy. Mr. Barker attended New Hope Temple and he loved to travel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine L. Barker, in April of 1981; his daughters, Rhonda Barker and Carol Ann Wilson. Mr. Barker is survived by his son, his brother and his wife, his sister and her husband, his special cousin, and by many other cousins. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Friday from 8:30 a.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
