Reuben Shumaker Succumbs At 71; Funeral Saturday

GALION - Reuben Shumaker, 71, who has been residing with his son, Richard, of Rt. 1, Castalia, the past six weeks, succumbed at Sandusky Memorial Hospital Tuesday evening. He had been ill the past four months.

Born in Galion April 9, 1896, he was the son of the late Jacob and Sarah (Schulpe) Shumaker. He married the former Mary Hehl; she survives.

Mr. Shumaker was an electrician in the Toledo area the past 40 years and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Toledo.

Surviving besides his are two sons, Richard, Rt. 1, Castalia, and Robert, of Galion, three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Bauer, of Crestline.

Preceding him in death were a grandchild and two brothers, Edward and Darland.

Funeral services are to be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Snyder Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Robert Kletch, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.
