Jose R. Chavez, 51, Dies In Hospital. Jose R. Chavez, 51, of 4006 Alameda Avenue, El Paso commission merchant, died in a local hospital Saturday. He was a charter member of the Sheriff's Posse. He is survived by his widow. Mrs. Juana Chavez: two daughters, Misses Alma and Maria Elena Chavez; his mother, Mrs. Dolores Chavez; five brothers, G. R. Chavez, G. Chavez, M. Chavez. Y. Chavez and F. Chavez; five sisters, Mrs. L. T. Baz, Mrs. F. Visconti, Mrs. V. G. Apodaca, Mrs. A. Wiley, and Miss Y. Chavez, all of El Paso. Rosary services for Mr. Chavez were held at 8 p. m. Saturday in the Martin Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Father Kirgan officiating. The body will be in the home of his mother at 3905 Alameda Avenue Sunday. Funeral services will be in St. Patrick's Cathedral at 9 a. m. Monday. Active pallbearers will be Sheriff Chris P. Fox, Deputy Sheriff Felix Hickman, Dr. Frank Goodwin, Henry Woolridge, John Sherman, and Howard Smith, all members of the Sheriff's Posse. Other members of the Sheriff's posse will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Transcription by Mary Cummins.
