DEATH SUMMONS TO MRS. CATHERINE RAWLES
Mrs. Catherine B. Rawles, one of the best known women of Bloomington, mother of Dr. W. A. Rawles, Cashier Charles Rawles and Mrs. Charles Springer of this city and Mrs. Grace Rawles Wheeler of Indianapolis, died at five o'clock this morning at the Bloomington Hospital of the infirmities of old age. She was 77 years old. Her daughter, Mrs. Wheeler, has been here since last Friday.
Mrs. Rawles had been sick only a few weeks and was removed to the hospital for treatment two weeks ago. Her condition seemed to improve for a time. Mrs. Rawles was born January 21, 1837, (two illegible words) and her maiden name was Catherine Baker Oilar. She was married March 19, 1861, to Lycurgus Rawles who died December 7, 1873. Mr. and Mrs. Rawles resided at Remington, Indiana, until October 1873 when they moved to Irvington. Mr. Rawles died December 7, 1873. In April 1874, Mrs. Rawles returned to Remington and moved to Bloomington in March 1878.
In her youth, she united with the Baptist Church and after her marriage she became a member of the Methodist Church, and after removal to Bloomington she united with the First Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be held at the residence at 320 East Seventh Street Thursday at 2:30 in charge of the Rev. T. R. White and interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
