Apha B. Castline, 90, of Owego, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Castline, Sr.; her son, Roy Castline; her daughter, Dawn Madigan; her sister, Ethel Middaugh; and her brothers, Lester and Dana Anderson. Apha is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff "Jack" and Alice Castline, Lisle, N.Y, Paul and Dorothy Castline, Lancaster, Pa.; her brother and caregiver, Claude Anderson, Jr., Owego, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Penny Given, Steven Castline, James Castline, Lisa Castline, Robert Castline; and also her several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Apha was born in Owego, on January 21, 1915, the daughter of the late Claude and Mae (Allen) Anderson, Sr. She began working for Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, and later worked for Mary Lou Dress Shop, Morse Chain and Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and the Dinner Bell in Owego. Apha had a love for sports cars, especially Corvair, Firebird and Camaro. She also enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles. Apha was a member of the Catatonk Baptist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Catatonk Baptist Church, 1199 Owego Rd., Rte. 96, Owego, N.Y. 13827, on Monday, July 25, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Fred Middaugh, her pastor and nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, N.Y. Friends are invited to call at the Catatonk Baptist Church on Sunday, July 24, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those wishing are asked to direct memorial contributions in memory of Apha, to the Catatonk Baptist Church or the Tioga Opportunities Program, 1 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego, N.Y. Arrangements are with Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego.
