Katie had fourteen siblings and was raised on a farm in North Dakota. She was educated at the Catholic School St. Pines Parish, Sheffield, North Dakota. Katie left school early to help her parents on the farm.
At age 22 she married the love of her life, Frank Fisher on February 1, 1950 in the St. Pines Catholic Church in Sheffield. They stayed on the family farm for three years before relocating to Bozeman, Montana.
It was in Montana that she went to Vo-tech school. Katie became a mother and had two babies that were three months premature but now are in their 50s.
As a family, they moved to Bend [Oregon] which was home for eleven years before finally moving to Roseburg. In Roseburg she became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she spent many hours in Catholic education and the soup kitchen. In 1988 she served as a Eucharist Minister at Mercy Hospital as well as the assisted living and retirement centers.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Maxine of Coos Bay; son, Mel of Olivehurst, CA; Katie also leaves a grandson, Fred Kerzenmacher of Sutherlin; granddaughter Brenna Fisher of Houston, TX; and two sisters: Magdalin Schock of Dickinson, ND; and Florence Chalderdon of Coeur d' Alene, ID.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Dominic; and brothers: Jerome; Leo; Frank; Joseph; and sisters: Beata and Cecilia Wandler; Bridget Misser; Genevieve Vondrachek; Perpetua Johnes; and Lorraine Kudona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 12:10 p.m. and she will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
