Marion Presley Phillips, age 99, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Oklahoma City. He was born March 20, 1922 in Munday, Texas to Presley Calloway and Hattie Pearl (Perryman) Phillips. As one of nine children, he knew early on that he did not want to be a cotton farmer, and worked hard to make a good life for himself. After graduating High School in 1940, he worked at bank typing loan papers and eventually attended Business College. Marion was then drafted into the Army Air Force and served 3 years, being honorably discharged in 1946. He then went on to attend Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Petroleum Geology. He worked in Cuba for a year and a half then went to Wyoming and made his way back to Oklahoma. Marion met the love of his live, Marvyl Zell Read, and they married at Wichita, KS on August 16, 1959. A huge part of Marion's life was music. His love of singing started at an early age and grew over the years. He was proud of his Barbershop tenure, most recently singing in a quartet called "The Silver Foxes" as their tenor. Marion was a loving and kind husband; he was generous to his friends; and family was the biggest part of his life, next to God. He will be remembered for his volunteer work as an ombudsman, his quirky sense of humor, his smile, his beautiful voice, and his kindness to others. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marvyl Zell Read Phillips (2003); and siblings, Nolan, Helen, Shelton, Docia, Novelle, John, Audrey Nell, and Hattie Ann. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be 1pm Thursday, October 21, 2021 with his service to follow at 2pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
