Enlisted in Company K, Ohio 17th Infantry Regiment on 13 Sep 1861. Mustered out on 20 Apr 1863, folowing wounds received in the battle of Stone River, TN, 31 Dec 1862. Lost his right arm in the battle of Stone River.
