Mr. Keel was an engineer for the Terminal Railroad in St. Louis, Mo. He worked with the Civil Conservation Corps. He was a member of Midwest Coinshooters and Historical Club, the American Legion Post No. 365, in Collinsville, Ill., where he was a volunteer, Faith in Action in Collinsville, Ill., where he was an avid volunteer, and he participated and helped with Meals on Wheels program.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie, nee Dunaway, Keel ; a son, Stephen Noel; a daughter, Judy Howard; and two brothers, William and Elmer Keel .
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, nee Mangus, Keel , whom he married on Sept. 22, 1966, at the First Christian Church in Collinsville, Ill.; sons, Donald (Jean) Keel Sr., of Wildwood, Mo., Elvin (Peggy) Noel of Gallatin, Mo., and Michael (Alice) Noel of Herculaneum, Mo.; grandchildren, Donald Keel Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., Christopher Keel of St. Louis, Mo., Kelly Harman of Springfield, Mo., Kevin Noel of Gallatin, Mo., Craig Deterdinge of St. Jacob, Ill., Mark Deterdinge of Nashville, Ill., Karla Chaney of St. Louis, Mo., and Kenneth Noel of Hillsboro, Mo.; numerous great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Keel of Haines City, Fla.
