Marie Voorhees Chiki of Winter Park, Fla., passed away May 18, 2013. On March 23, 2013, she was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Rudolph L. Chiki.
She was born April 14, 1922, in Chicago, Ill. She is survived by her four children as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For a more detailed obituary, please see the Collison Family Funeral Home website.
A Memorial Mass is planned for June 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Old Howell Branch Road, Winter Park. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Chiki requested donations be made to the Friends of the Winter Park Library or the Bloomsburg Public Library. Marie Voorhees Chiki, Winter Park, FL., passed away May 18, 2013 at the Westchester Assisted Living Facility where she had recently moved. She was born April 14, 1922 in Chicago, IL. to Edw. Papik, M.D. & Alma Junge. She was predeceased by her first husband, Wm. A. Voorhees in 1982, & on March 23, 2013 was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Rudolph L. Chiki, Sr. She is survived by her children, Sharon Longardner,Winter Park; Joe Voorhees (Gwen,Josh, US Army Afghanistan) of Orlando; Tom Voorhees (Michelle), Winter Park and Jerry Voorhees, Lake Worth, Fl. Additional survivors are grandchildren Tiffany (Keith) Gibbons, Heather Longardner, Justin (Carrie) Longardner, Tyler VanVoorhees and Victoria VanVoorhees. She also counted as her grandchildren, Emily & Alex Herrington, brother & sister of Tyler & Victoria. Great-grandchildren are Jaxson & Grayson Longardner. Grandchildren & great-grandchildren by marriage to Rudy Sr. are the children of his eldest son, Rudy Jr., who passed away in January of 2013, and their children. They are Dana, Ilde (US Army Afghanistan) and Elizabeth. Rudy Sr. also has a daughter, Elizabeth & son Eric (Georgia). Born on the South Side of Chicago, as a young woman, Marie worked as a telephone switchboard operator, then after marriage in 1944 worked many, many years as a wife & stay-at-home mom. After moving to Florida in 1967, Marie worked in the agricultural risk management field. Rudy & Marie were married in 1987. Many friends & family, old & new, mourn Marie's passing, both here in Florida & in Bloomsburg & Berwick, PA., where Rudy Sr. was born. He & Marie spent their summers in their fifth-wheel at their beloved Turner's Highview Campground for many years. A Memorial Mass for Marie is planned for June 1, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park, interment to follow at Palm Cemetery, Webster & New York Avenues, downtown in Winter Park. A reception will follow at the home of Tiffany & Keith Gibbons, 668 Field Club Circle, Casselberry. In lieu of flowers, Marie requested donations be made to the Friends of the Winter Park Library or the Bloomsburg Public Library.
