Waldo Howard Ballard, 82, widely known hardware dealer and Muncie's oldest merchant, died at 6:30 o'clock last night at the family residence, 816 East Main Street, following an extended illness. Mr. Ballard moved to Muncie from Ashville, N.C. in 1895 and founded the W.H. Ballard Hardware Co.

The body was taken to the Meeks Mortuary where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Monday.
