ARANSAS PASS, Texas - Claude Marlin Stiawalt, 81, died Jan. 10, 2006, in Doctor's Regional Hospital, Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Beeler, the son of Chester and Mabel Reed Stiawalt. He was a 1942 graduate of Beeler High School. A resident of Aransas Pass, Texas, for the past 25 years, he was a former resident of Ness City and McPherson. He started the business of Frigid Cr?me Drive-in, Ness City, and later was the owner and manager of the Skylark Motel in McPherson.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

On Aug. 4, 1947, he married Doris Fercking in Dodge City. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Marlin Stiawalt, Florida, and Kent Allen Stiawalt, McPherson; two daughters, Karen Dodds, Wichita, and Norma Lee Stiawalt, San Martin, Calif.; a brother, Wayne Stiawalt, Ness City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Ness City, with the Rev. Russell King presiding. Burial will be in Ness City Kansas Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ness City American Legion Post.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
