"WORLAND – Former longtime Worland resident Adolph Lungren, 79, died of cancer on Friday, Sept. 20 in Canon City, Colo.
He was born on July 8, 1917 in Fruitdale, S.D., a son of Jacob and Anna Marie (Walter) Lungren. He moved to Worland with his family in 1921. They lived in Cowley briefly, then returned to Worland, where he attended Washakie County High School.
He moved to Denver in 1934 to work for Cudahy Packing Co., then lived in Billings, Mont., then returned to Worland, where he went to work for Holly Sugar Co. in 1942. He retired in 1982 after 40 years as a mechanic and shop foreman.
He married Dorothy I. Reiber on Sept. 11, 1939 in Thermopolis.
In his younger days, Mr. Lungren had been active as a Golden Gloves boxer, and had fought professionally.
He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1982, and to Canon City in 1993.
He was a member of the Worland Elks Lodge and Zion Lutheran Church in Worland. His hobbies included fly-fishing, hunting, playing baseball during is younger days, and tying fishing flies.
Survivors include his wife of Canon City; three sons, Larry of Canon City, Grant of Phoenix, and Bart of San Jose, Calif; a daughter, Diane Wyman of Ten Sleep; a sister, Molly Eckert of Worland; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
The service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bud Surles officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland. Veile Mortuary is in charge of arrangements."
