John G. Carmichael
UNADILLA — John G. Carmichael, 84, of Unadilla, N.Y., passed away Friday, March 1, 2002, at the Vestal Nursing Center, Vestal, N.Y.
He was born March 27, 1917, in Unadilla, the son of John J. and Bertha (Gager) Carmichael.
He was married to O. Jean Sherman on Dec. 16, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif.
John was a graduate of the Unadilla Central School Class of 1936 and was a lifelong Unadilla resident. He retired in 1980 from Amphenol Corp. in Sidney, N.Y., as a supervisor.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Unadilla United Methodist Church, Masonic Freedom Lodge #324 of Unadilla, Sidney Elks Lodge #2175, Unadilla Rod and Gun Club, trustee of the Evergreen Hill Cemetery Association, Unadilla, and the American Legion Joyce-Bell Post #578 of Unadilla.
John is survived by his wife, Jean Carmichael,of Unadilla; his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Linda Carmichael of Johnson City, N.Y., and Dale and Patricia Carmichael of Williston, Vt.; his grandchildren, Lauren, Jaclyn, Kristin, Ryan and Amanda; also a friend of many years, Robert Felske of Sidney. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Carmichael.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Unadilla United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kip Stratton, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be later in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla.
Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home, at 123 Main St. in Unadilla, from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Fire Department Building Fund.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home in Unadilla.
