WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Harold H. Ament, 96, of Worthington, died after a brief illness Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be an altar and rosary society rosary at 4 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1905, in Worthington, son of Chris and Mary (Feltes) Ament.

He married Loretta C. Huber on April 16, 1932, at St. John Catholic Church, Delhi. Together they farmed in the Earlville and Worthington areas.

He was a member of the St. Paul Rosary Society. He enjoyed playing solo and euchre and watching the Cubs. He was a former member of the Worthington City Council.

Surviving are a son, Tom (Joan) Ament, of Dyersville; three daughters, Verna (Al) Geistkemper, of Savanna, Norma (David) Simmons, of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Lois Ament, of Fullerton, Calif.; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, on Feb. 11, 2000; five brothers, John, Lawrence, Henry, Eugene and Herbert Ament; two sisters, Hilda Rogers and Lorraine Damge.
