Eddy M. Bailey, 61, a resident of Flippin passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Mountain Home.
He was born July 4, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas to the late, Burwell and Ellen Lucille Phillips Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the submarine, USS Narwhal as a Nuclear Power Operator from 1971 to 1975 during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Carole Jean Sutherland on August 22, 1972 in Raytown, Missouri. After his military service, Mr. Bailey earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Geology from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He worked as a geologist and geophysicist in oil and gas exploration. Mr. Bailey was of the Baptist faith and he loved camping and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carole Bailey of Flippin; a son, Nicholas Bailey and his fiancée, Monica Cunningham, both of Russellville; two brothers, Rolland Bailey, D.O. of Flippin and Michael Bailey of Phoenix, Arizona and, his faithful dog, Rusty.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Herring officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ozark Post 3246 will be immediately following in Fairview Cemetery near Flippin under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 701 Burnett Drive, Mtn. Home, AR 72653.
