Mrs. Martha Maxwell, 76, died at her home in the Stoney Point community near Tyus Saturday following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Maxwell was born May 5, 1868, the daughter of Bluford and Martha Pike Yates. A number of years ago she was married to William Edward "Mannie" Maxwell who died July 26, 1934. Surviving are four sons. J. William Maxwell, of Carrollton, Route 4; Rhudy Maxwell, of Carrollton, Route 3; Ruben Aaron Maxwell and Monroe Maxwell of Roopville, Route 1; four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Jackson, of Carrollton, Route 5; Mrs. Julia Prince, of Carrollton, Rout 5; Mrs. Lillie Mae Eady and Miss Leatha Maxwell, of Roopville, Route 1; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Bob Yates and John Yates of Texas; Charlie, of Burwell; Lonnie and Walter, of Roopville; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Grizzard, of Frolona; Mrs. Jeanie Dukes, of Anniston, AL., and Mrs. Ollie Wright, of Franklin, Route 5. Funeral services were held from Ephesus Baptist church in Heard county Monday with the Rev. M. W. Yarbrough and the Rev. Guy Rogers officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
