Obituary
G.L. Grimes
On March 22nd, 1910, the death angel visited the home of Mr. Grimes and conveyed him beyond the veil. "Uncle Goode" (as he was called) was born on Dec 3, 1829, five miles south of Courtland. At an early date he accepted Christ at the Old Bethel Church, and those who knew him best, say he spent quite a long term of service in the Master's vineyard, and we believe he accomplished the true aim of his life - lived so as to gain an abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

"Uncle Goode's" wife, and four children, preceded him to the spirit land some years. On this side of the mystic river he leaves five children, together with a number of grand children and relatives, to mourn his departure. To these loved ones we would say: Be faithful until death, then you will meet the loved ones gone before, then will your sorrow be changed to happiness and your weeping to rejoicing....Just before the last breath was drawn he requested Revs. Thrasher and Parker to conduct the funeral services. His remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery near his old home to await the resurrection morn, when we all must bid farewell to all that is mortal and he with those that are redeemed in the beautiful home of the soul. The sorrowing loved ones have my love, my sympathy, my prayers, and I mourn with them.
