OBITUARIES
Miss Nancy Blaxton was born at Courtland, Dec 4, 1830, joined the M.E. Church when 15 years of age, and until her death lived a consistant member. She was married to Mr. Good Grimes, March 24, 1857, died May 12, 1906, after suffering 3 months. She fell and hurt herself in February and for a time could not be moved except by use of chloroform, and a few weeks before she died an absess formed on her side, from which she suffered great agony but she held out faithfully, bearing her pains with christian fortitude. I was by her side frequently and I could tell she was suffering. Just a short while before she died she prayed to die, and He did take her to a home in heaven, where there is no pain, but peace forever. We do believe she is now with Jesus. Mrs. Grimes was a good woman, an affectionate wife and a loving mother, and we know it was hard to part with her, yet we bow in humble submission to him who doeth all things well. She had lived to a ripe old age. Her husband was just one day older. They were born in two milesof each other, married and raised a family of 8 children, 5 of which survive her. Her sons were with her at her death. Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones, yet we should try not to weep for a good, pious christian woman. She and Uncle Goode had spent nearly 50 years together, and raised a family of sober and christian children. Her two daughters are in Texas and could not be with her, but weep not kind friends, for your mother is only sleeping a peaceful slumber till the resurrection morning.
