Baptismal date: 10 May 1829, Crowan Parish, Cornwall, England

Jacob Davis III and his wife Jane Moyle were first cousins. Their mothers were sisters. They married 10 April 1853 in Pennsylvania. Jane's parents were Richard Moyle and Ann Blewett.

Transcription of original marriage record taken when it was in the possession of Jacob Davis IV, Rapid City, South Dakota: "This is to certify that Jacob Davis, of Tamaqua, in the State of Pennsylvania, and Jane Moyle, of Reading, in the state of Pennsylvania, were by me joined together in holy matrimony the tenth day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three in the presence of Newton Heston Minister of the Gospel."

Children of Jacob and Jane:
James T. Davis, 1855-1929
Newton Davis, 1857-1927
Clara Davis Smith, 1859-1951
William Davis, 1861-1883
Theresa Davis Forbes, 1864-1939
Nelson Davis, 1867-1926
Jacob Davis IV, 1869-1953

Died 2 days after his mother Jane (Blewett) Davis.

Jacob is *possibly* buried at Ebenezer/Bell Cemetery in Guilford Township, Illinois, next to his wife Jane (Moyle). However, there is no stone next to hers. Jane's stone fell over decades ago and is now deeply embedded in the ground. It is impossible to read anything which may be written on the back, in case they shared the stone. Many of the stones in this cemetery are missing, crumbled and/or unreadable.

Jacob's birth and death dates come from family records.
