Delmer L. Christman, 82, 1275 Marion Melmore Rd., Bucyrus, died April 13, 2002, in Hartland, of Bucyrus. He was born May 23, 1919, in Monroe County, a son of the late Lewis E. Christman and Anna K. Claus Christman.

He farmed until 1970 and then worked for the County Highway Department retiring in 1989. He moved to this area in 1948.

He was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ, former Lykens School Board member, North Robinson Equity board, the Crawford County Fair board member; served on the church board and was a 4-H advisor. He enjoyed carpentry and especially liked making grandfather clocks and working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Grace Smith Christman, whom he married July 3, 1943; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Mary Jane) Bays, of Sycamore, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Gearhart, rural Bucyrus, Annabelle Horning, Mansfield; three granddaughters, Malynne Keiter and Tony Barker, Mrs. Todd (Betty Jo) Billings, Jody Horning; step-grandchild; great-grandson, Harley Barker; two step-great grandchildren; four brothers, Thurman Christman, Woodsfield, Robert Christman, Bucyrus, Wilbur Christman, Caledona, Edward Christman, Bolivar; brother-in-law, Charence Smith, Monroe County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Keiter; two brothers, Lawrence and Earnest christman; two sisters, Celesta Welty and Louse Bower.

Friends will be received April 17 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. , at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, with Rev. John Miller and Rev. Karla Frost officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the Relay for Life through the funeral home.
